1000 tiny houses

It’s said if you fold a thousand origami cranes you will be granted a wish by a crane, such as long life or recovery from illness or injury.
It’s also said that making a thousand origami lucky stars will grant you a wish.
But I was wondering if drawing a thousand tiny houses would grant you anything (except being labeled as an obsessive-compulsive doodler hehe)? Just kidding of course :)
I like doodling little houses so I thought why not line up a thousand of them?
The truth is I simply love sketching a simple geometric shape of a little house. Here are a couple of my older drawings framed:

And I also love pretty much anything with an illustration of tiny houses, like this gigantic tea cup (filled with lemongrass/ginger tea right now):

I’m very fond of these house shaped salt and pepper shakers, too (although I use them as decoration only):

Is there any particular motif/pattern/shape you especially like?

  1. Right now? I’m loving houses for some reason. Maybe because the world is so uncertain anymore, that home seems cozy and safe and sacred. I LOVE your drawing! Look. This woman has something in common with you. She’s in Finland: http://www.etsy.com/listing/42932795/peachy-pink-tiny-house-pendant-in

  2. You’re right about the houses and their symbolism, Lynn! Thank you for the link!

  3. Hi, Asja! The truth is that I “fell in love” exactly with your numerous picturesque and lovely houses when I first visited your blog. I dream of a puppet show, where I’ll have on stage such tiny, cosy and fairy houses. I like the strings of those one hundred houses, too! By the way, here’s another perception on the theme – you might like it?? – http://otvorenivrati.blogspot.com/

  6. thank you justdoodleit!

  7. I like faces, personally. I’m rather fascinated at how they can look in any shape or shade. I see faces in everything, from my morning cereal to the odd, and chaotic, paint patterns on my wall.

  8. DudelRok-I understand what you mean! I read somewhere that all man made products resemble us humans, even a front side of the car looks like it has a face:)

  9. LOVE houses!!! :-)
