I really, really missed doing an illustration just for the sake of it, just for fun so making this mega compilation of drawings of audio tapes was necessary for my soul and I absolutely loved it.

Linocut textures

Here is one of my latest work-progress-projects: making colorful textures using lino-cut technique. I made random cuts and scratches on a piece of lino using a sharp knife to get messy texture and them made many different prints using various ink colors. The size of watercolor paper prints were made on is 25×35 cm.

I plan on using those textures as backgrounds for drawings.

Five little things

Here are five little things that kept me occupied in lately:

I made a small bear painting (5×5 inches) on canvas using deco paint pens.

Also, I made some new DIY flyers/business cards. they are hand drawn and then photocopied.

My mini Moleskine cover got a little face-lift. I decorated it with moo stickers with my own designs and with kitchy stickers from a local store.

Today I kept myself busy cleaning my home studio. Here is a detail of a shelf with acrylic paints. It will probably get cluttered with other stuff pretty soon but for now it looks neat.

I sorted through my humble collection of decorative papers to see which one will get used a photo backdrop next.

September flowers

September and October have always been my favorite months and Autumn has always been my favorite season. It’s the time I feel most inspired and productive and I am usually bursting with energy and new ideas. And I have especially good feeling about this Autumn, I am already in mood for creating awesome stuff and I can’t wait to start drawing intensely again after a Summer spent mostly taking pictures and working at a slower pace on more simple projects. In a about a week or so I will start blogging regular again after much needed break from online world and I have a ton of new photos and drawings to share!

Sometimes when I don’t have time to seriously draw I doodle simple (usually abstract) shapes, scan and color them and save in one of my “work in progress” folders. Usually I find those simple drawings useful as additional layers when composing my illustrations.

So here are few of those simple doodles I made lately which may or may not end up as part of actual illustrations : )
