three friendly poppies
I love poppies. Ok, to be honest I don’t really care that much about the flowers themselves as much I find their rich, bright red color appealing to the eye. And what I love  even more is the red-green complementary contrast going on when I see  poppies surrounded with green grass. I just like pretty, colorful things, especially on a cloudy, rainy gloomy Monday such a this.

So, there you go, a bit of bright red and some greenery captured on one of my walks:

I hope you all have colorful week :)

Ihandmade stamps
Recently I got a pack of cheap erasers which I carved into simple and abstract stamps without a specific goal in mind on how to use them. It was fun and easy project to play with  on a relaxed evening while watching to my favorite youtube channels.

I tried my new stamps out and made some patterns and cards:

I really liked that and then it occurred to me that by playing around with stamps I could easily and quickly make a simple poster. So I pulled out a 30x40cm pale yellow sheet of construction paper and decided on making flowery pattern. I was out of ink so I colored my stamps with plain felt tip pens and started stamping away.

The finished result looks like this:

I’m pleased with how it turned out and how fast this technique is. Next step, maybe getting some fabric paint and stamping out a white tablecloth?  We’ll see :)

doodling flowers from Asja Boros on Vimeo.

This is  short (and abruptly cut -I forgot to charge my camera battery, oooooops :) ) video of me doodling some flowers.

I’m still trying to figure out how to shoot videos of my drawings in progress, trying to use better lighting, thinking at which angle to shoot, how to position my camera, so please bare with me and my ongoing experiments (such as this) till I get it right :)

You can see the finished drawing below, it looks  much different than original doodle. I have made an original sketch with Artline 0.1 pen (sent to me by Bob), coloring was done wit uni-ball vision fine tip black pen and watercolors in pencil. The drawing was done on 180gms slightly textured paper and it’s approximately 21×28 cm in size ( I cropped A4 format a bit).

Last week we took a leisure walk through botanical garden in Zagreb. Weather was nice and garden was full of blossoming flowers and trees, lush greenery and pleasant scents. The place was also packed with people: families with kids, couples, teenagers making out, photographers, elderly sitting on benches and reading, a group of students with their teacher, an artist painting magnolia flowers in ink, tourists and many more. I took many photos , mostly of flowers since I’m still in phase of drawing mostly abstracted flowers and shapes.

Without much further explanation here are some pictures I took in botanical garden on a lovely Spring afternoon:

Hello, hello! I took a mini blogging break but now I’m back (well, sort of). I’ve been low on energy over the past week and more but I still managed to see some exhibitions and go on a few photo walks.

Couple of weeks ago we visited Mimara museum to see exhibition of Islamic, Mogul and Bhutan objects. Here are few pics:

And more objects from Mimara collection I found interesting. Currently I’ve been drawing a lot of abstract and flower patterns so it feels inspiring to see these old displays.

Since Spring is in full bloom, I couldn’t resist visiting flower and Dolac market and treat myself with some fresh flowers.

markov trg yard
On our walk through Zagreb Upper Town we noticed an open door leading into one of backyards on Trg Sv. Marka. The backyard is full of old pieces of sculptures, scrap and feral cats (that are fortunately being fed by someone). It’s almost fascinating how such neglected place, almost a junkyard can be rights across Croatian parliament.

Since I’m still in a need of a break, things may remain a little silent over here, at least until Easter holidays are over. After that I’ll be having a giveaway (my two year blogging anniversary is near!) and I’ll be back with much more photos, art and writing :)

Have a great Friday everyone!

flower garden

Hello Spring! I have a new series of drawings dedicated to Springtime, flowers and flower garden and I put them, all 33 of them into a little, cute book. I will dedicate another big post to this book, for now I’m leaving you with a link to a  book preview.

September and October have always been my favorite months and Autumn has always been my favorite season. It’s the time I feel most  inspired and productive and I am usually bursting with energy and new ideas. And I have especially good feeling about this Autumn, I am already in mood for creating awesome stuff and I can’t wait to start drawing intensely again after a Summer spent mostly taking pictures and working at a slower pace on more simple projects. In a about a week or so I will start blogging regular again after much needed break from online world and I have a ton of new photos and drawings to share!

For now here is some September flowers, three different versions of same drawing:
