royal cat-small

Royal cat is the title of my latest illustration turned seamless pattern. Unlike my last pattern I preferred this one in dark version, I think it makes cat appear even more regal :) I had a lot of fun drawing all the flowers for this one and coloring them using my favorite color palette (yellow-orange-red-lightblue-green). And,of course, it’s no surprise, as well as on my blog and flickr royal cat found it’s home in my Society 6 shop.

in bloom -small

I designed a new seamless, flower pattern that’s similar to mixed media art pieces I’ve been working on lately, I called it In bloom and made several versions of it. Version you see above is available in my Society 6 shop.

I was thinking all of the versions of a patter would be nice as fabric designs. Lighter version would look lovely on table cloths and linen and dark version would be cool as scarf design. I’m seriously considering dabbling more into fabric design in future :)

rose patch for blog

It’s that time of year again, a time for spring cleaning: out with the old, in with the new! This year, in addition to cleaning my home and getting rid of all the old things I don’t need anymore (old clothes, old notebooks filled with random scribbles, old stuff I don’t use …) I thought it would be fun to clean out some old ideas and beliefs that don’t serve me anymore, that hold me back, that make me feel burdened rather than motivated etc. It certainly is a  different kind of spring cleaning- cleaning your mind and preparing yourself for a start of a new season. I think that beginning of spring is awesome time for new, fresh beginnings, for making resolutions, for starting all over again… It makes more sense to start a new project, or a new routine on first day of spring than on January 1st.  Our bodies and minds are in tune with nature cycles and it’s much easier to make resolutions now and stick to them, or start something new since everything in nature is starting a cycle of rebirth as well :)

So, are you going to be doing some spring cleaning soon? Do you have some old beliefs and ideas you’d love to let go of and start anew? Feel free to share them :)

Also, if you’re interested in drawing you see above, it’s one of my latest pieces, called Rose patch, it’s actually a mixed media piece ( black rollers and acrylics) and it’s done on 12 x18 inch thick and lightly textured watercolor paper. I started working on it in early February and it took me almost a month to finish it.

psychedelic blanket

Let me introduce you to my latest drawing that  I called psychedelic blanket for obvious reasons (pattern! colors! horror vacui!). Alternate title could might as well be under Arlen’s influence because  I was while  drawing it totally inspired by our latest collaboration The Royal Sampler.

Here are few snaps of work-in-progress. (If anyone’s interested, it took me 8 hours  total to finish it, the drawing is done on A4 size  bristol paper).

And, of course it can also be found on my Society 6 site, as print as well as other products:

Video of my mini Moleskine notebook filled with drawings.
I had a lot of fun filling my mini Moleskine notebook with drawings and doodles, I did it in breaks between some more “serious” drawing, painting and running errands. All of the drawings are done from imagination without any pre-sketches or strict ideas of what I’m going to draw. I used a lot of metallic colors, mainly silver and gold and enjoyed combining bight blues, greens and pinks. The colorful the better :)
